Cover Letter Tips

When writing your cover letter, keep in mind that the reviewer is only interested in one thing; the facts. DO NOT think of your cover letter as an autobiography; it should be brief and to the point. The purpose of the cover letter and resume should be one thing – it should demonstrate that you meet or exceed the requirements listed in the job description. It should demonstrate that you’re interested in the position, and that you are available to accept the position if offered. Additional information beyond this can be counterproductive, as it dilutes the core purpose of the cover letter and resume.

When writing the cover letter, avoid negatives. A cover letter is not the place to explain why you left or are leaving an employer, why there are gaps in your employment dates, etc. These "negatives" are best delivered in person during the interview so that your personality and can counter them.

Spend time thinking about the layout of your letter, and make it sure that it is easy on the eyes.

PLEASE do NOT
follow the advice of poorly written resume books and websites that advise on using platitudes and clichés in your cover letter. The point here is to be different and stand out. The goal is to demonstrate your written communication skills by writing a good cover letter – Cutting and pasting a phrase from a cover letter / resume book is not impressive.

Your cover letter should be addressed to a specific person - avoid the "Dear Sir or Madam".Go to their company website, and search the "about us" pages for names of individuals to address your cover letter. It takes a few seconds; however will make your letter stand out.

Sharing: 100 Years to travel A Mile

Assalamu'alaikum wbt & Good Day

During this examination mood, Counseling Unit would like to share this story;

This is a short and summarized story about Gary Faye Locke , the current United States Secretary of Commerce, as told by him in his opening remark at the beginning of the conference, Presidential Summit on Entrepreneurship (PSE). I copy-pasted this from tini rahim (http://tini-rahim.blogspot.com/), as she got it straight from Dash's blog(http://dashinsights.blogspot.com/).
.
.
.

- The day began with Secretary Locke giving the opening address. It was truly an inspiring speech. It reflects the American Dream.

- In his speech, Secretary Locke narrated the story of how his great grandfather emigrated from China to Washington and found a job as a servant. His father too a Chinese immigrant had a grocery store.

- Secretary Locke, when he took his oath as Governor mentioned that his mansion was 1 mile away from where his great grandfather used to sweep floors a 100 years ago.

- "....100 years to travel a mile", he said to an applauding audience.

- His bio says, Secretary Locke is the first Chinese American to hold this post in a President's cabinet.

Is this possible in any other country?

.
.

I nearly shed a tear. Nearly. It's indeed true what they said, you sometimes find joy in the work of others.

Dear Students/Readers & I
Don't give up..we never know what's the best for us &
every time, you have an intention to stop, remember to start it again, as you might stop at your 100times of trial and you have a success on your 101 trials.
